Description

The Thunder Bolt Max 530W Plug-In Solar Kit is our best-value single-panel Bolt system, designed to deliver more solar power from one premium full-black panel.

It combines a high-efficiency 530W full-black solar panel with a smart 800VA microinverter, UK AC connection cable and a dedicated no-drill flat roof mounting system. With 530Wp of solar capacity from a single panel, Bolt Max is a compact way to generate your own electricity in suitable gardens, patios, sheds, outbuildings, rear extensions and flat-roof spaces.

Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth make it easy to monitor solar generation and system performance from your phone. The default flat-roof configuration is listed as compliant on the ENA Connect Direct register under THUNE/21751/V1/A1.

No-drill flat roof brackets are included as standard.

Yes. The flat-roof Bolt Max 530W configuration is listed as compliant on the ENA Connect Direct register under THUNE/21751/V1/A1.

In Great Britain, compliant plug-in solar systems have been permitted for connection through a standard household socket since 27 August 2026, subject to the applicable product, electrical and connection requirements. Northern Ireland has separate connection requirements.

Yes. Bolt Max is supplied with a UK 3-pin AC connection cable and is designed to connect to a suitable household socket in accordance with the supplied installation instructions.

Bolt Max is particularly suited to suitable flat roofs, sheds, outbuildings, rear extension roofs, patios and garden spaces. The mounting surface must be suitable for the panel, mounting system and any required ballast.

No-drill flat roof brackets are included as standard. Adjustable angled mounting brackets can be selected instead for an additional fee

Yes. Suitable ballast, such as appropriate concrete blocks, must be used to secure the bracket feet. Ballast is not included with the kit.

There is no single ballast weight that is appropriate for every property. The requirement depends on factors including wind exposure, installation height, panel position, mounting surface and local site conditions. You must choose a suitable ballast solution and confirm that the roof or supporting surface can safely carry the combined system and ballast load. Seek professional structural advice where appropriate.

Bolt Max 530W is designed to maximise output from one premium full-black panel while keeping the upfront price low. Bolt 460W is the better starting point where future expansion to a second panel is a priority.

Bolt Max 530W is supplied and ENA-listed as a single-panel system. If future expansion is important, choose the  Bolt 460W system designed and listed for that configuration.

Yes. The smart microinverter includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity for mobile app monitoring of solar generation and system performance.

Yes. Plug-in solar remains grid-connected generation and the installation must be notified to the local Distribution Network Operator in line with the applicable G98 process. The relevant product and ENA reference information is supplied with the kit.

System: 1 x Bolt Max 530W solar module (N-type back-contact monocrystalline, dual glass bifacial, 23.5% efficiency), total 0.53 kWp. Bolt Max 800 VA microinverter, 97.0% peak efficiency and 99.8% MPPT efficiency.

Orientation: Modelled at 40-degree tilt facing south, the optimal configuration for London and achieved with the supplied mounting bracket on a garden, flat-roof or shed installation. Output will differ at other orientations.

Specific yield: 1,191 kWh/kWp/year (PVGIS simulation for London at 40-degree tilt, including cable, inverter and module losses, less a 2% soiling allowance, plus a 5% bifacial gain). The module is bifacial at 70%, so it also generates from light reflected onto its rear face. The 5% figure assumes a garden, flat-roof or shed mount with clear space behind the module; rear-side gain will be lower where the module is fitted flush against a wall or balcony.

Year 1 generation: 625 kWh.

Module degradation: 1% in year 1, 0.35%/year thereafter, reaching 88.85% of rated output at year 30 (Bolt Max performance warranty).

Inverter headroom: 530 Wp of modules feed an 800 VA microinverter, so output is never limited by the inverter and no clipping loss is applied.

Seasonal generation split: Winter 33% / Summer 67% (derived from PVGIS monthly output at 40-degree tilt for London).

Self-consumption rate: Winter 100% / Summer 90% (blended 93%). Output stays below household demand for most daylight hours, so the large majority of generation is used on site.

Annual consumption: 2,700 kWh (Ofgem typical medium household). Winter 60% / Summer 40%.

Electricity tariff: 26 p/kWh (Ofgem price cap, July 2026), 3% annual inflation assumed.

Export: No export income is included in this projection.

Basis of calculation: Figures are modelled on a 530 W single-module system.
