Garden solar panels are compact outdoor solar systems designed for UK homes that do not have suitable roof space or want a simpler and more affordable alternative to traditional rooftop solar.

Thunder's garden solar systems mount easily onto fences, sheds, garage walls or any solid sun-facing surface, turning unused outdoor areas into clean energy sources. Lightweight panels and a single microinverter allow you to create your own solar setup with either a quick DIY approach or a professional installation.

Battery arbitrage: Off-peak grid charging at overnight rates, peak discharge during daytime. 365 days per year at full capacity (1.92 kWh). Solar generation is consumed directly by the household and does not charge the battery, leaving full battery capacity available for grid arbitrage year-round. Battery operates at 800W maximum output, sufficient to offset household base load during peak hours.87% round-trip efficiency.

Battery arbitrage savings assume the customer is on a smart time-of-use tariff with off-peak overnight rates. Actual returns may be higher or lower than projected depending on tariff availability and usage patterns. All figures are estimates based on the assumptions above and should not be considered as guaranteed returns.

Yes, you can install solar panels in your garden in the UK, and it is one of the easiest ways to generate clean energy without using your roof.

Garden-mounted solar systems are lightweight, flexible and designed for installation on solid surfaces such as fences, sheds, garage walls and open ground. Most garden solar installs do not require planning permission unless the system is unusually large, the property is listed, or the home is within a conservation area.
